There are numerous benefits to growing the food you eat. For me, having a home garden has been one of the great joys of my life. Witnessing seedlings grow into vegetables has brought a different meaning to food and cooking. It is a wonderful way to introduce kids to the fruits and vegetables they will later find on their plate. Growing and caring for food gives us a heightened level of respect and appreciation for the foods we cook and the farmers who grow them on a large scale for our consumption.
Having a home garden can seem overwhelming, but it definitely does not have to be. There are a number of organizations that can help you create a home garden and even maintain them.
I have had the pleasure of working with Natalie Flores (AKA Sunshine) on my vegetable beds. She is a master gardener (or farmer as she likes to be called) with a wealth of knowledge and resources to tackle any situation. She is also available on a weekly basis to help maintain your garden.
I have planted herbs, vegetables and salad greens based on the types of foods and recipes I enjoy. We can help you do the same in your home garden :-)
